Terrified family scare off thieves in late-night attempted robbery at Scots home

A brave Scots family have told how they scared off thieves during a late-night attempted robbery on their home.

Police were called to the property on Craigmount Gardens in the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh after receiving the report at 8.15pm on Sunday, January 15.

The brazen culprits had attempted to smash the back door of the house, by which time the sleeping occupants had woken up.

As cops scrambled to the scene, the thieves made off empty-handed. Shocking images of the door show the glass smashed by its handle.

Homeowner Aslam Yasin told Edinburgh Live: “We had an attempted break in at 8.15pm. They managed to break our back door, before we woke up and they ran away.

Officers launched an investigation into the incident, with inquiries currently ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We were made aware of an attempted break-in at a property on Craigmount Gardens in Edinburgh shortly after 8.15pm on Sunday, January 15. No access was gained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
