McKinney on the fight's key moment
“It’s all right. What can top 7 seconds, really? Best debut, I think, in (UFC) history, so shout out to God for that. Honestly, my favorite fight after that would be against Drew Dober. This is No. 3.
“I was surprised how he was acting at the beginning. I was like, ‘This dude think he’s going to knock me out or something?’ It was getting me hyped. I had to calm down. The coach was like, ‘Chill – don’t don’t pay no mind to that.’ Obviously that hyped-up stuff didn’t work out. Sorry, buddy. I gave him a hug and said he’s a good man of God. I gave him a hug, gave him some love. But he’s the kid, and we made him look like that tonight.”

McKinney on long-term goals
“It’s amazing, but I’m not trying to get too excited because my coach said some real sh*t to me: We’re not training for these guys. We’re training to beat (lightweight champion) Islam (Makhachev). So it’s back to the gym on Monday. I’m satisfied, but I want more.”
McKinney on what he wants next
“We want Chris Duncan, whether it’s November or December. The UFC already liked that match, and so do we. Let’s get that fight (in) November or December. We’d love that. The Chris Duncan fight will solidify the run and show people that I’m a contender again. That’s why I really want that fight.
“I like that he likes to throw down. He throws a lot of kicks. He’s about that life, and so am I. I just think it’s going to be a banger. Let’s do it in Madison Square Garden (at (UFC 295). I like that.”
