Unit in Jordan supports Defeat ISIS mission.

Three service members were killed in an attack in Jordan, and the Pentagon has revealed more details about the incident. The service members were part of a unit deployed to Jordan as part of the ongoing mission to defeat ISIS.

The Pentagon has stated that Iran-backed groups have been responsible for launching attacks on U.S. forces in several countries, including Iraq, Syria, and now Jordan. These groups have been receiving funding and equipment from the Iranian government, which enables them to carry out these attacks.

While tensions in the region are undeniably high, the Pentagon has emphasized that the United States does not seek a wider conflict with Iran. The primary objective remains defeating ISIS and ensuring the safety of U.S. military personnel. The Pentagon reiterated that Iran also does not seem to desire a war with the United States.

In response to the recent attacks on U.S. forces, the Pentagon has made it clear that they will not hesitate to call out Iran's role in supporting these groups. However, their focus remains on the defeat of ISIS and not engaging in a broader war.

The service members who were killed in the attack in Jordan were part of a named operation dedicated to the defeat of ISIS. Their presence in Jordan was to provide support in this mission.

The Pentagon further stated that they are not disregarding the fact that tensions in the region are escalating. Since October 17th, there have been numerous attacks on U.S. forces by Iranian-backed groups. The intention of these attacks appears to be to harm and kill American military personnel. However, the United States remains steadfast in its commitment to avoid a wider conflict.

In addition to the attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan, the Pentagon also highlighted the incidents in the Red Sea. They made it clear that the United States does not seek a wider war in that region either. However, they will respond to any attacks on commercial or partner vessels that jeopardize international trade and put innocent mariners at risk.

In summary, the recent attack in Jordan resulting in the deaths of three service members has shed light on the ongoing conflict between Iranian-backed groups and U.S. forces. While tensions remain high, the United States reiterates its focus on defeating ISIS and avoiding a broader war. The Pentagon continues to call out Iran's support for these groups but maintains its commitment to de-escalation.
