Tennessee Titans held tryouts with 10 players on Tuesday

The Tennessee Titans inked three players to their practice squad on Tuesday afternoon, but before that they tried out a slew of players.

The three players the Titans signed to their practice squad were quarterback Kevin Hogan, outside linebacker Zach McCloud and offensive lineman Jordan Roos.

Both Hogan and McCloud were two of the 10 players the Titans took a look at. The Titans were already familiar with Roos, who has been with the team all season, both on the practice squad and active roster.

You can check out our write-up for the signings of those three players right here.

Among the positions the Titans tried players out at were running back, wide receiver and offensive tackle, all areas of need.

Running back is an issue this week with the Titans having multiple injuries at the position, and Tennessee’s problems at the other two spots are already well-documented and won’t be fixed by any of the players they looked at.

Nevertheless, here’s a look at the full list of 10 players the Titans tried out.

WR Tarik Black

Black appeared in one game for the New York Jets in 2021, catching one pass for 10 yards. Wide receiver is one of the biggest holes for Tennessee right now, but Black is nothing more than a practice squad body if signed.

WR Isaiah Coulter

A former 2020 fifth-round pick of the Houston Texans, Coulter has slightly more experience than Black with four games played over two seasons, but he has just one target and zero receptions in his young career.

WR Malik Taylor

Taylor is the most experienced wide receiver the Titans took a look at on Tuesday. Over two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Taylor notched seven catches for 80 yards and a touchdown, along with one rush for nine yards.

OT Dylan Cook

Another big issue for the Titans on offense has been the offensive line, but Cook wouldn’t help that issue, as he has never played a regular-season snap in the NFL.

RB Jaquan Hardy

The Titans enter Week 15 short at running back, with Dontrell Hilliard already having been ruled out and Hassan Haskins dealing with an injury that has sidelined him two games.

That leaves Derrick Henry and Julius Chestnut (practice squad) as the only two healthy backs on the roster if Haskins has to miss another game, hence Tennessee’s interest.

Hardy appeared in three games in 2021 for the Dallas Cowboys, talling 29 yards and one touchdown on four carries.

RB John Lovett

Lovett has never played a regular season snap. He spent multiple stints on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad this season.

RB Abram Smith

Smith signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but didn’t make the final cut out of training camp. He has been a free agent since.

RB Jonathan Ward

Ward is the most experienced back of the group of tryouts from Tuesday. He spent two-plus seasons with the Cardinals, appearing in 32 games.

He has just nine carries for 33 yards and four catches for 45 yards in his career.
