Tennessee secures 350 acres at Devil’s Racetrack after years of effort

Tennessee has secured approximately 350 acres at Devil’s Racetrack through a $2.45 million land acquisition, bringing years of conservation efforts to a significant milestone. The purchase protects one of the Cumberland Plateau’s most distinctive geological landscapes and creates new opportunities for the continued development of the Cumberland Trail. Announced on 23 September 2026, the deal brings together public funding, private contributions and sustained advocacy to safeguard the area for future generations. The newly acquired land will be managed by Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Park as plans for its future take shape.
