Saturday night’s game against South Carolina just went from bad to worse for Tennessee.
Trailing by three scores early in the fourth quarter, the Vols clearly had their work cut out for them to avoid the upset loss against an unranked conference opponent.
But the bigger picture might have suffered a huge blow, as star quarterback Hendon Hooker went down with an apparent leg injury.
Hooker was running an option play and was making a sharp cut after a fake pitch to the running back, and went down without being touched by a defender.
The play was also reviewed, and it was determined that Hooker fumbled the ball on his way to the ground, and it was recovered by the Gamecocks, adding insult to injury.
Hooker was able to walk off the field, and is currently in the medical tent for evaluation.
