Tennessee state authorities have launched an investigation into the tragic incident at a plastics factory in Erwin, Tennessee, where 11 workers were swept away by flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Helene. The Impact Plastics factory, located in a rural area near the Nolichucky River, was inundated as heavy rainfall led to a rapid rise in water levels.
Reports indicate that employees at the factory were allegedly not allowed to leave in time to avoid the storm's impact. It wasn't until the flooding reached critical levels, with water entering the parking lot and the plant losing power, that the decision was made to shut down and send workers home. Tragically, 11 individuals were swept away by the raging waters, resulting in two confirmed fatalities.
