Telugu Association of London felicitates Dr. Raghu Ram

Dr. P. Raghu Ram, Director, KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases, was felicitated by the Telugu Association of London (TAL) on becoming one of the youngest surgeons of Indian origin in over 100 years to be conferred OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of British Empire). He was formally conferred this award by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles at Windsor castle on March 30.

Bharathi, Chairperson and other Trustees of the Telugu Association of London (TAL) appreciated services to the medical field by Dr. Raghu Ram at a glittering function held at New London College in London on the eve of Ugadi. They commended his vision and exemplary innovative initiatives over the past 15 years to improve the delivery of breast healthcare in India.

Whilst thanking TAL Executive Committee for felicitating him, Dr. Raghu Ram narrated his UK – India journey over the past 15 years and said that he was proud to be a ‘living bridge’ between the UK and India replicating the best of British practices towards making a meaningful difference to the delivery of Breast healthcare in his motherland.

Representing some 10,000 Telugu speaking people in and around London, TAL is the first ever and the largest Telugu Charity Organisation in the UK which was formed in 2005 with a vision and mission to promote and cherish the Telugu language and culture. A number of activities are being held on a monthly basis under the auspices of TAL to reach out to the next generation of Telugu speaking community.
