HYDERABAD: A TRS leader, holding an important position in Nirmal, has been booked allegedly for raping a 15-year-old girl recently under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after the survivor lodged a complaint.
Nirmal police have registered a case against three accused — the TRS leader, a woman and a car driver — under Sections 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act. While the TRS leader is on the run, the other two, according to sources, are in police custody.
"Though the incident took place nearly a month ago, the complainant's family brought it to our notice now. The girl is in hospital," a Nirmal cop said.
According to the complaint, the TRS leader and the woman know each other and the survivor is a tenant at the latter's house. The minor was brought to Hyderabad in a car by the woman in the pretext of attending a function and kept in a hotel.
The duo stayed for two days and it was during this time that the TRS leader allegedly raped the minor. Later, the woman took the victim back to Nirmal. The family came to know of the sexual abuse a few days ago when the victim complained of ill health.
Nirmal SP Praveen Kumar said that investigation is on.
