HYDERABAD: The daylight robbery of Rs 43 lakh kept in a bag from a car near Siddipet sub-registrar’s office by two on a bike on January 31 has been cracked with the arrest of four men on Monday.
Bike-borne robbers had also fired at the driver before fleeing with the cash bag. The money belongs to former sarpanch V Narasaiah who had just concluded a property deal a day before hike in registration rates. Siddipet police said they arrested G Raju, A Sai Kumar, B Karunakar and B Vamsi Krishna after analysing CCTV footage and mobile phone tower location of the accused.
It was Raju who fired at the driver, police said. Other two were arrested for providing shelter and conspiracy. Police
said that Raju came up with the plan to make quick money to repay loans that Sai and he had to take to secure bail in a Pocso case in which both were nabbed.
Sai was the first to be picked up and after interrogation disclosed names of three accused. “They timed the robbery hoping that there will be heavy registrations a day before revision of taxes. At a document writer’s office they saw cash being counted and later Narasaiah handing over cash bag to his car driver,” a Siddipet cop said.
