Teens fleeing street takeover stopped by police Batman-style car grappler

A group of teens fleeing a coordinated street takeover was stopped by police officers who deployed a Grappler to immobilze them.

Footage shared by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies pursuing the vehicle through active traffic in Tampa, Florida, on 21 March.

As the car continued to drive through oncoming traffic and nearly struck pedestrians, officers deployed the Grappler to “safely disable the vehicle”.

The driver, Calixto Gabriel Anaya, 19, was arrested and faces charges including street takeover, reckless driving, and felony fleeing to elude. The passenger, Kierstin Mckenzie Robb, 17, was also arrested for drug possession and carrying a firearm.
