A TEENAGE boy has suffered a head injury while bull-riding at the Stroud Rodeo on Friday night.

NSW Ambulance paramedics are treating the patient on scene and a rescue helicopter has been dispatched to assist with his care.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 5.30pm on Friday, with two further ambulance crews on the way.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics are treating the teenage boy for a head injury, but his condition at this stage is unknown.

The Newcastle Herald understands the teenager suffered a head injury while bull-riding at the Stroud Rodeo and Campdraft which is being held today, Saturday and Sunday.

It is understood the junior rodeo events were being held on Friday afternoon.

If the teenage boy requires further medical treatment, it is likely rescue helicopter crews will transport him to John Hunter Hospital.
