Teenager slashed across face with bottle in city centre bar

A defenceless teenager was slashed across the face with a bottle on a night out in Liverpool City Centre.

The 19-year-old was in Fitzgerald’s Bar, on Slater Street, with his girlfriend when he was attacked, at around 3:30am on March 20.The victim sustained a serious facial injury which is being assessed. Extensive enquiries are ongoing.

Merseyside Police said the victim sustained the injury by a man, with an "unknown implement, believed to have been a bottle".

Detectives are now issuing CCTV images of a man who may have information following the assault.

Detective Constable Dave Gaskell said: “We think the man pictured may be able to assist our enquiries so if you know him please come forward.

“This was a completely unprovoked assault on a man who was at a bar with his girlfriend.

"He received serious injuries which may require lengthy treatment, in addition to the psychological impact that such a serious assault has.

"We will continue to support him as the investigation continues.”
