A teenager was robbed at knifepoint at a Metrolink tram stop in Manchester city centre, police have revealed. The force said three suspects were arrested and they remained in custody for questioning on Friday night.
No ages for them have been revealed by Greater Manchester Police. Detectives are now appealing for the victim - a boy believed to be aged between 16 and 18 - to come forward.
GMP said he was unaware officers were en route to the scene to help after the robbery and caught a tram. It's not believed he suffered any injuries. The force has now issued a public appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
The robbery happened at the Exchange Square tram stop in the city centre at around 11pm on Thursday night. The victim went on to catch a tram to Rochdale, GMP said. That was just after 11pm.
In a statement, a force spokesman said: "We are appealing for information following a knife point robbery in Manchester city centre. The incident happened at the Exchange Square tram stop at around 11pm on Thursday.
"The victim, who's described as being black, 16-18 years-old with short black hair, was unaware that officers were en route and left for the 11.05pm Rochdale-bound tram.
"Officers do not believe the victim was injured but would obviously like to speak to him. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a long-sleeved black top with a blue patch and dark-coloured jeans. Three suspects have been arrested and remain in police custody for questioning."
No further information has been revealed.
