Teenager goes viral after trying on old XXL wardrobe following 10 stone weight loss

A teenager has gone viral for posting a video of her trying her old XXL wardrobe, after a whopping ten stone weight loss.

Maeve Everett, 19, became a talking point online after opening up about how she was prompted to loose weight after her doctor told her she wouldn't be able to carry children safely.

With the dream of becoming a mother one day, Maeve decided to change her life around.

This included her deciding to stop eating fast food, and work out six days per week.

The teen then saw a considerable weight loss - dropping from 19 stone to 9 stone within 14 months.

Maeve, from Michigan, US, has shared an inspiring video showcasing her before wardrobe on her new petite body.

She opened up about the motivating force behind her weight reduction, saying: "I went for a check up at my doctors after being advised for years to lose weight, and then the doctor told me I couldn't carry children safely.

"My heart just sank. I looked up at my mum and thought there's just too much at stake, too much life to lose. I didn't even consider a life without children.

"He also said I was at risk of being diabetic and I don't think my mum was that surprised to hear any of this. I decided to put my health first and change my ways."

The 19-year-old said that she realised it was fast food that needed to go from her diet. However, instead of going cold turkey on it, she cut it out slowly as she said she knew she'd 'end up craving it'.

Prior to her deciding to lose weight, she said that fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King were one of her biggest problems, adding that she used to go so often because they were convenient.

Maeve continued to say: "Once I cut those out, I started to see a difference. One of the biggest parts of weight loss is reshaping your relationship with food, I still have chicken sandwiches now but I grill the chicken rather than having something fried and greasy."

Speaking about how she made sure to maintain a healthy diet, she added that, "the food you eat has the nutrition you need. It's not even that low calorie but for breakfast I have waffles, with a banana and a yoghurt so I get carbs to fill me up and protein.

"Rather than fast food, I now have turkey and cheese wraps for lunch, and dinner is something like a stir fry, or chicken and cauliflower rice. I have completely changed my relationship with food and it feels great."

The 19-year-old also said that exercising was a huge part of her slimming down, saying: "I also made sure to keep fit and active by working out 6 times a week for 60 minutes. I would normally start by doing 40 minutes of cardio and then the other 20 minutes for extra activities such as an extra walk, weights or an ab workout."

Maeve, who goes by 'maeverett' on TikTok has used her platform to document her weight loss journey.

Her TikTok has been a hit, with her transformation video lip-syncing to American singer Lizzo reaching up to 12.2 million views.

She said: "I can't believe the reaction to my transformation videos. The first one I posted to Lizzo I had in my drafts for like 6 months and my mum encouraged me to post it.

"Once I posted the reaction was crazy! People have been asking my questions for tips on how to keep going or workout tips, it's really nice to feel like I'm helping others.

"One thing that's surprised me is that it's not just women asking questions and supporting me, men are getting involved too. It's really uplifting and I've made friends through it too.

"It's really nice getting the congratulations but of course I do get bad comments. Personally, I decide not to reply because I'm not giving them the attention they want.

"But my lovely community of followers have my back which is what's important."
