Teenager arrested for breaking into Michael Jordan's mansion he tried to sell for $29m

Michael Jordan’s mansion was broken into this week and a teenager has now been arrested on several charges - including criminal damage to the property.

On Tuesday, Highland Police Department responded to a robbery call from neighbours at approximately 4:10pm, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner. The home - which is valued at an eye-watering $15million - was quickly visited by police who found the trespasser still inside.

He has been named as Raiden Hagedorn, an 18-year-old who was swiftly arrested when found inside the Chicago Bulls legend ’s mansion. Hagedorn was charged with criminal trespass to an occupied residence and two counts of criminal damage to property, which are all misdemeanours.

Jordan was not inside the 56,000-square-foot home when the incident went down. He has reportedly not lived at the address since he placed it on the market back in 2012 with the six-time NBA champion initially putting it up for sale for $29m.

The property is truly a home fit for the GOAT - Greatest Of All Time - as it comes with nine bedrooms, 19 baths, an infinity pool, a tennis court and a cigar room. There is also an indoor basketball court and gym.

The gates to the iconic property are adorned with the number 23 - synonymous with Jordan and his all-conquering NBA career with the Chicago Bulls. After leaving the Bulls in 1998, Jordan played for the Washington Wizards before the five-time MVP retired in 2003.

His mansion is not the only asset Jordan is trying to cash in on at the moment. The 60-year-old is reportedly looking to sell his NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets.

Jordan holds a majority stake in the franchise worth $1.7billion and appears ready to move on. During his 17-year ownership, the Hornets have secured a winning record on just four occasions while Charlotte reached the postseason three times and never made it beyond the first round.

Jordan purchased his stakes in the Hornets in 2010 for $175m and controlled 97 percent of the team before selling a chunk of it to two investors in 2019. The franchise is now worth almost $2billion.

Ultimately, the Hornets are struggling with a 26-54 record. They sit 14th in the Eastern Conference, and face the lowly Houston Rockets in their next contest on Friday.
