A teenager has appeared in court charged with murdering a 27-year-old man outside a shopping centre in Cumbernauld.
Michael McKeown, 18, appeared in private at Airdrie Sheriff Court charged with killing James Ross - known as 'Chucky'.
McKeown, of Bonnybridge near Falkirk, also faces two further charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and carrying a bladed or pointed article in a public place.
The teenager made no plea during the short appearance on petition on Thursday February 17.
His case was committed for further examination and McKeown was remanded in custody in the meantime.
He is expected to re-appear in court within the next eight days for a further hearing.
Police launched a murder enquiry after 'Chucky' Ross was found fatally injured in Larch Court, Cumbernauld at around 4.30pm on Monday February 14.
A 15-year-old was arrested by police following the incident but was later released pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Houliston said earlier this week: “Our thoughts are with James’s family and friends. We are providing his family with support at this difficult time."
