A teenager has been allegedly stabbed not far from where an emotional community forum on youth crime was held just 24 hours earlier.
Toowoomba detectives have charged three teenagers over the alleged wounding of an 18-year-old man in the Toowoomba CBD on Thursday.
Police allege the man became involved in a verbal argument with three males on Chronicle Lane that escalated into a physical fight about 7pm.
It's alleged one of the teenagers produced a knife and stabbed the alleged victim in the chest before leaving the scene.
Police have since charged a 14-year-old Kingsthorpe boy, an 18-year-old Oakey man and a 19-year-old Oakey man.
They were denied bail and are due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court and Toowoomba Childrens Court respectively.
The 18-year-old was charged with wounding and possession of a knife in a public place.
The 19-year-old was charged with wounding and attempted robbery.
The 14-year-old was charged with wounding and possession of a knife in a public place.
Police allege that at least one of the trio knew the alleged victim.
The Queensland Ambulance Service said he was in a serious but stable condition at a Toowoomba hospital.
CBD incidents
Police have told the ABC that a reported incident involving a large group of young adults near a major CBD shopping centre at the same time was unrelated to the alleged stabbing.
It comes a week after 75-year-old pensioner Robert Brown was allegedly attacked at a taxi rank outside a shopping centre and later died from his injuries.
Four teenagers are facing charges, which are expected to be upgraded.
It also follows the alleged shooting of a 16-year-old girl and 37-year-old woman in the CBD on Tuesday.
Police have charged an 18-year-old woman with grievous bodily harm and multiple weapons-related offences.
