A teenage boy was found with a machete and balaclava following an ATM theft.
At around 4.15am police received a report that the cash machine at West End Superstore on West End Road in Haydock had been tampered with and the contents stolen. It was reported three men made off from the scene in a black car in the direction of Park Street, and one made off on foot along West End Road.
Officers attended and stop searched a teenager on Chain Lane who police said was found to be in possession of a balaclava, machete and suspected cannabis. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis).
