A teenager who admitted burglary was given a chance to turn his life around. But he blew it and he's been sent to youth custody.
Brett Jewell admitted breaking into one house and trying to break into another in January. The 19-year-old, of Bristol Foyer in Victoria Street, pleaded guilty to burglary and attempted burglary.
In March Judge James Patrick deferred sentence on him on the grounds he stay out of trouble and address cannabis use. But on Wednesday (June 8, 2022) the judge heard Jewell had committed more offences.

Judge Patrick handed Jewell 10 months youth custody. He told him: "I tried very hard not to send you to prison. You did not keep your side of the bargain."
Neil Treharne, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court Jewell raided a home in Bishport Avenue and stole a £400 television and a purse containing £285 for a children's birthday party. A few days later Jewell was captured on a video door bell trying the front door of a home in Ravenhill Road, Bristol.
Police identified him and his distinctive clothes from the footage. He was arrested but made no comment when interviewed.
The court was told after sentence was deferred on him he stole a bicycle in February and handled a bike and stole bikes in April. And in May he attempted to break into three garages in Perry Road, Bristol.
Rodney Wilson, defending, said: "Your honour sought to give this defendant a chance. It is clear that he has not complied with any of the requests that your honour set and there is a certain inevitability.
