Teen Mom's Catelynn Lowell has been criticised by fans for her decision to leave her three daughters in the care of her mum April Brockmiller, despite being fearful about her mother's alcohol use.
The MTV star asked April to babysit her children – Novalee, Vaeda, and Rya – while she accompanied her husband Tyler Baltierra to a hospital appointment to get a vasectomy.
In the latest episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Catelynn's friend Amber asked the couple who would be watching their children, with Catelynn reluctantly admitting her mum would baby sit.
"I asked my mom to come and sit here," she said before explaining her concerns regarding April's drinking habits.
Catelynn added: "I was telling Ty, 'Well, if she drove here and watched them, she wouldn't be drinking because she won't drink and drive'."
She then admitted to having trust issues with her mum, especially in regards to her kids.
"I'm in this moment in my life where I know it's kind of hard to trust her not to drink with my kids around, really," Catelynn admitted.
Amber questioned Catelynn's decision but the mum-of-three said she also needed to have a conversation with her mum about her drinking.
"I want to have the conversation with her. I don't want to be around her when she drinks, and I need to stick to that, and I don't want you drinking around my kids when you have them," she said.
Some viewers were concerned by Catelynn's decision, with one person tweeting: "April is making typical excuses for someone not making good choices. Oh yeah I was drinking for a couple weeks more than normal but it’s stopped."
Another said: "So Cate admitted that she knows April has drank while watching the kids at least once and is still using her as a babysitter. Yikes."
A third simply wrote: "WAIT, CATE?!"
However, some fans supported Catelynn's decision and said April could be trying to change her life around.
One person wrote: "When Cate said about April drinking- my heart just dropped. I felt so sad for her. Don't go back April. Keep moving forward."
