The teenager who lost his life after a horror crash in Cork, which also saw five other people injured, has been named locally as Johnny Foley.
The 16-year-old, who is from the Spur Hill area of Cork city, was a passenger in a car that was involved in a two-car collision which took place at around 1am on Saturday on the M8 at Ballybeg in Mitchelstown.
Four others travelling in the same car were all taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where they are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries while a woman in her 30s who was driving the other vehicle suffered serious injuries.

Johnny was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor with his family being informed of the news this morning, CorkBeo reports.
It has been reported that the incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman, GSOC, as a vehicle involved in the collision was "subject to an interaction" with Gardaí shortly beforehand.
As of Saturday morning, the scene remained sealed off with Gardaí appealing for witnesses to come forward.
In a statement, Gardaí said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident that occurred during the early hours of this morning, Saturday, July 1 2023, on the M8 at Ballybeg in Mitchelstown, Co.Cork.
"The two-vehicle collision happened at around 1 am. A passenger from one of these cars, a male youth (teens) suffered fatal injuries.
"The driver of this car, a male youth in his teens, and three other passengers, an adult male (teens), a male youth and a female youth (teens) were taken to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
"The driver of the other car involved, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
"The scene remains preserved this morning to allow for a technical examination, with local diversions in place. Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to come forward to them.
