A teenage woman will face court today on multiple charges stemming from a horror crash in an allegedly stolen car that killed a 15-year-old boy.
Emergency services were called to Alukea Avenue at Point Clare, on the Central Coast, just before 2.30am on Monday, September 14.
Police were told a Mazda sedan had left the road at a bend on an overpass before it crashed into the rail corridor and rolled. Police said the vehicle had been stolen from Narara.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated one of the passengers, a 15-year-old boy, at the scene and he was rushed to Gosford Hospital. Police confirmed he tragically died on arrival.
A second passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being flown to a Sydney hospital in a serious condition.
The driver, also an 18-year-old woman, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing under police guard.
Police established a crime scene and officers from the specialist Crash Investigation Unit were working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The driver was discharged from hospital about 7pm on Monday and taken to Gosford Police Station. She was charged with two counts of negligent driving, driving while suspended, and a P-plate offence.
The woman was refused bail to face court on Tuesday.
Police issued the woman with a separate court attendance notice for unrelated knife and drug charges.
Brisbane Water Drive was closed at Glenrock Parade for several hours while the crash site was cleared and crime scene was examined.
