Vikarabad police on Wednesday announced the arrest of Mahender alias Nani (19) who raped and murdered a 16-year-old girl from Angadichittempally village in Puduru mandal. The body of the girl, a student of Class 10, was found in the agriculture fields in the early hours of Monday.
According to District Superintendent of Police N Koti Reddy, the accused called the victim to talk and later tried to force himself on her. “As the girl resisted, he banged her head to a neem tree and raped her after she fell unconscious. He escaped from the spot leaving the victim to bleed to death,” he said.
Mr. Reddy said Mahender took a fancy to the victim, his neighbour, and stalked her in the name of love and made her believe that he would marry her. “They used to speak over the phone. He wanted to fulfil his sexual desires,” the SP said. However, the victim’s sister learnt about their relationship and informed their mother. The girl’s mother chided her and took away the mobile phone.
Mahender learnt about the entire episode and with the intent to fulfil his sexual desire, he managed to convince the girl to meet on the outskirts for some discussions, where he injured and raped her, the officer said.
