Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, and Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, were arrested in June this year in connection with the fatal stabbing of 32-year-old Caroline “Caro” Peña in Del Rio, a small city near the Mexican border.

Peña was a mother of five, and her youngest child was just 3 years old.

Surveillance footage and details in the police complaint raised serious questions about what allegedly happened before and after the fatal confrontation.
