Teen charged over armed carjacking of woman and baby

A teenager will appear in court, accused of using a gun to carjack a woman and her baby in Sydney's west.

The 18-year-old allegedly confronted the 33-year-old who was sitting with her baby in the back seat of the car at a Parramatta shopping centre on Friday afternoon.

Police say the man threatened her with the firearm and demanded she get out of the vehicle, which she did.

The woman and baby were not injured.

On Monday police spotted a blue Suzuki on Hoxton Park Road, Green Valley but terminated a pursuit due to safety concerns.

The man was later chased on foot through a Liverpool shopping centre where he was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, before being taken to hospital for treatment of a hand injury.

He was released into police custody and charged with six offences including armed robbery, destroying property, dangerous driving, drug possession and driving while disqualified.

He was refused bail and will appear in Liverpool Local on Tuesday.
