Ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, representatives of the US National team have been sent a message by fictional coach Ted Lasso, with billboards appearing in the home towns of members of the squad.
Lasso is a character played by Jason Sudekis in the hit Apple TV show which tells the story of a fictional American Football coach who becomes manager of fictional side AFC Richmond who play in the Premier League. It is a multi- Emmy Award winning comedy, with a stellar cast which has become a huge hit.
Such has been the success of the show, AFC Richmond has been made into a playable team in FIFA 23, with Lasso an available manager within the game. This success is also being seen in the real world, with a series of billboards being placed into the home towns of those who will travel as part of Gregg Berhalter's World Cup squad.

Players such as Arsenal's Matt Turner and Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic have all received the motivational messages as part of a billboard campaign which it is hoped will promote the tournament which will be the USA's first appearance on the global stage since 2014.
