Techies paying hefty amount to get taller; know what a cosmetic surgeon has to say

A report has come to fore about a bizarre trend that is going on among IT employees. A Las Vegas surgeon has revealed that employees from tech giants Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are paying loads of money just to get 3 inches taller.

While little is known about the gender wise interest among the IT employees, it can be safely said that the craze for a tall height is often not talked about. While we all discuss complexion and appearance, we are yet to talk about the stigmas associated with smaller height.

The report was initially carried by GQ, an American international monthly men's magazine.

Dengue symptoms: More than 500 dengue cases reported in Bengal in a single day; key symptoms to take note of

Kevin Debiparshad, founder of LimbplastX Institute in 2016 has revealed that Workers from Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are paying $75,000 to be taller. The report adds that the procedure costs between $70,000 and $150,000, depending on whether the patient wants to grow 3, 4, 5, or 6 inches.

Debiparshad has said that most of his clients are men and he has treated only a few women as well.

So, how does it work?

The height of an individual depends on the length of the legs. In this artificial height increasing process, the person's thigh bones, which are also known as femurs, are broken and metal nails are inserted to them.

The real technique behind increasing the height is that the nails are extended a tiny bit every single day for three months. This process is done by a magnetic remote control.

As per the expert, it can take months to slowly lengthen the bones. It can also take a considerable number of days for the legs to heal.

The doctor says his business shot up during the pandemic.

Stigma around short height

Short height is associated with low self esteem, low social status and low attractiveness despite several references in the past and in the present about such people who have achieved a lot and created history.

The social acceptance of tall and fair people or tall and dark people affects short heighted people.

This stigma mostly affects men more than it affects women. A man is always seen as macho and several remarks are passed to those who do not come under the socially set height standard for them.

Is it right to challenge science?

A normal human being's height increases till the age of 20-25 years. After the growth plates in the bones stop growing, an individual's height also stops growing. Due to some medical condition, people can grow beyond 25 or may stop growing at 18 years of age; however these are exceptional cases.

Instead of focusing on height, one should actually focus on strengthening the spine. Kids and adults should emphasize on making the spinal cord of the body strong by incorporating several yoga asanas in the daily routine.

Yogas like Tadasana, Vriksh Asana, Sarvang Asana, Ustra Asana, Paschimotan Asana, Ujjayi Pranayama are known to work good on the spines of a human.

As mentioned by Debiparshad, it takes time for the body to heal from the bone lengthening process. Medical intervention has its own pros and cons when it goes against the laws of biology.
