Tech barons must not be allowed to “let rip” with artificial intelligence (AI), a senior minister warned as John Healey prepared to use the Budget to boost investment in the technology.

AI minister Kanishka Narayan said the UK had a role to play in developing and harnessing the rapidly developing technology without allowing all-powerful industry tycoons to do as they please.
