Teams around NBA have asked about Zach LaVine trade but hesitated at Bulls asking price

The Chicago Bulls are firmly stuck in the middle. They have a Big 3 of All-Star-caliber players, but with Lonzo Ball missing significant time, they have been unable to string together enough success to win. In fact, in two years together, their current core has just won a single playoff game.

To make things worse, the Bulls don’t exactly have a clear path forward. While some fans have been begging them to hit the reset button, Chicago continues to press forward, adding win-now players to their team without significantly changing the outlook of the top-end talent. That could just lead to more middling results.

That said, trading Zach LaVine definitely isn’t in their plans unless the price is right, and according to Jamal Collier of ESPN, their asking price is sky-high.

“Rival teams have checked in with the Bulls about LaVine’s availability, team and league sources told ESPN, but no team has been willing to meet Chicago’s reportedly large asking price,” Collier wrote. “LaVine, 28, is owed $129 million over the next three seasons and owns a $48.9 million dollar player option in 2026-27.”

LaVine is an All-Star, but he’s owed $129,095,820 over the next five years, including a player option in the final year.

The Bulls are supposedly looking for a young player and picks, per KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, and teams probably won’t want to give that up.
