Team India's report card, Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal top charts

India lost the fifth and deciding Test against Australia in Sydney by six wickets inside three days to lose the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 3-1, which also knocked India out of the qualification race for the World Test Championship (WTC) final as Australia sealed that spot.

Australia, who won the BGT for the first time since 2014, will defend their WTC title against South Africa this June in London at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

In a series that saw India's famed batting line-up fall like a pack of cards, the young Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the most runs despite it being his maiden tour of Australia. Meanwhile, stalwarts like Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma failed to live up to the high standards they have set for themselves.

The star of the series turned out to be Jasprit Bumrah, who raised the bar with his 32 wickets across the five Tests. But it ended on an unfortunate note for India's bowling spearhead, as back spasms ruled him out from bowling in Australia's second innings, which significantly blunted India's attack.

Here's a statistical report card of the Indian squad:
