Teacher 'who slept with pupil' at Glasgow hotel claims she went to check for pupil drug use

A Renfrewshire education boss has revealed that a PE teacher who is alleged to have slept with a pupil at a Glasgow hotel claimed she went there to check if pupils were taking drugs.

Susan Bell, Education Manager for Renfrewshire Council, was giving evidence to the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) today regarding Melissa Tweedie - a former teacher at Gleniffer High in Paisley.

Miss Tweedie, now 27, faces being struck off the teaching register amid claims she had sexual intercourse with a pupil at a Premier Inn in Glasgow after a school leavers' night at SWG3 in June of 2017.
