A global study looking into stress triggers and how to manage them has found that people in the UK would prefer to drink tea or do housework than have sex, to help manage symptoms of stress. The Ipsos survey for herbal tea company, Pukka Herbs, spoke to 1,000 people in the UK to try to identify the most common key triggers, when people are most likely to feel stressed and how they deal with it.
The survey revealed that only 10% of people would opt for sex to relieve feelings of stress, compared to 48% who choose to drink tea or coffee, while 20% decide to tidy up to relieve stress.
Across the UK, almost half (46%) said that stress is caused by relationships with those in their lives, with around 17% saying their relationship with a partner impacted their level of stress, whilst 13% of people feel that their relationship with their children causes them stress. Even the relationship that you have with yourself may be difficult; almost a third of people (32%) surveyed stated that they feel stressed and anxious in their daily life due to a feeling of lack of control and a fear of the unknown.
