The fact that TCU has made it to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game is storybook stuff alone. Winning it all would warrant a Hollywood script.
Per BetMGM, Georgia enters the big game as a 13-point favorite over TCU. The over/under is set at 63.5 with the Georgia money line of minus-500 compared to plus-375 for the Horned Frogs.
But don’t tell that to the Horned Frogs, who feel they’re as worthy of playing in the big game as the defending champs, the Georgia Bulldogs. And they are. Despite starting the season with 200-1 odds to win the CFP, TCU, under first year head coach Sonny Dykes, had an undefeated regular season and took down Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl to make it this far. Even moreso, they boasted a Heisman finalist in quarterback Max Duggan and have one of the nation’s best receivers in Quentin Johnston.
But don’t stop there. Their explosive offense also features the No. 15 leading rusher in America, Kendre Miller, who is listed as questionable for the game.
Here’s the TCU injury report going into the national championship vs. Georgia:
Questionable: RB Kendre Miller
Miller has 1,399 yards on the season and has 17 touchdowns. But he may be in a limited capacity tonight vs. Georgia after suffering a knee injury vs. Michigan.
He has a sprained MCL in his right knee which is half-healed and will give him a 50/50 chance of playing. He will reportedly warm up and see how he’s feeling.
“Tomorrow definitely is going to be pretty much the deciding factor if I can go or not, but I’m going to definitely try,” he said.
OUT: LB Thomas Armstrong
Armstrong tore his ACL in the season-opener and will not play vs. Georgia.
OUT: LB Marcel Brooks
The former 5-star was having a nice season, but suffered a season-ending knee injury in October vs. Oklahoma State.
OUT: WR Quincy Brown
Brown suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2 while making his second touchdown grab of the game.
