Irish Reddit is divided about a new crisp that combines two of the country's most beloved flavours and textures of the snack.
Tayto has announced a limited edition, new Meanies Tayto, a crisp that combines the iconic pickled onion flavour of Meanies with the texture of the thin and crispy fried potato that is the Tayto.
Just last week The Economist published a bizarre and glowing review of the humble Tayto crisp by way of a column, detailing the history and majesty of the beloved snack.

While people were unanimous in voicing their approval of the words penned about the Irish staple in the UK publication, many people were not too sure about this new addition.
In a post on Reddit people seemed to be in two different camps when it came to their opinion on the new product.
The people against the limited edition pickled onion Tayto raised the point that the allure of Meanies is their texture, however, others praised this suggesting that Meanies can be quite messy to eat so this new pairing will make them easier.
One person posted: "I'm wary of this. Part of the appeal of meanies is the texture."
Replying, one person added: "Picked onion crisps are awesome, love walkers ones. Meanies are great but to be honest the texture is annoying, messy and is like eating sandpaper if you have two bags."
Another agreed: "I too love meanies but you've got to brush your teeth straight after to get rid of that rind left on your teeth."
Although not making a comment on their opinion of the flavour, one made a very worthy point: "They really missed an opportunity to turn Mr Tayto into an evil looking meany version of himself for this packet."
While one more, raising the point that we are in a cost-of-living crisis added: "€1.25 is too much for a packet of crisps."
