Taylor Swift’s one of the most loved and famous video Blank Space was shot in a house which spread across 23 acres outside New York City, the sprawling property covers around 110,000 square feet and features 127 rooms, including 34 individually designed bedroom suites. A financier commissioned and built the estate between 1914 and 1919.
The auction house handling the property describes it as the second-largest private residence ever constructed in the United States.
Grand Interiors Inspired By French Architecture
The mansion’s interiors reflect its elaborate design and historic character. One of its most striking features is a sweeping staircase modelled on the famous staircase at France’s Château de Fontainebleau.
The estate also includes a ballroom and a grand library.
Formal Gardens With Reflecting Pools And Fountains
The grounds are equally elaborate, with formal gardens featuring nine reflecting pools and three fountains. The water features were recreated using the property's original plans, preserving elements of its historic landscape design.
Featured In ‘Citizen Kane’ And ‘Succession’
The estate has also appeared on screen over the years. It was featured in the 1941 film Citizen Kane and later appeared in the second season of Succession.
The property also gained pop-culture attention through Taylor Swift’s 2014 hit Blank Space, whose music video featured the singer moving through an extravagant mansion setting. Its connection to the song and other productions is only one part of the estate’s long list of notable associations.
