Taylor Swift fans fume as Ticketmaster changes rules last minute for Eras UK Tour

Desperate Taylor Swift fans waited with bated breath yesterday for an all-important email which would determine whether they would see their icon next year or not.

Ticketmaster previously told fans that an email would land in their inboxes, informing them if they have landed a place on the list to buy tickets for the general sale of The Eras UK and European 2024 tour.

Due to extremely high demand Swiftie's have had to sign up just to be on the list to actually buy tickets for Taylor's expanded tour, which is being supported by Paramore.

Thousands of fans constantly hit that refresh button on their inboxes on Wednesday, July 5, and when 'the email' did arrive it was not what many were hoping for.

That's because on Wednesday afternoon a different announcement came, from their Queen of Pop herself, telling fans that 14 more shows would be added to the line up, taking the total shows in the UK from 12 to 16.

While many excitedly shared the news, it meant a different kind of communication came from promoter AEG, on behalf of Ticketmaster and AXS, who will be selling tickets for the event.

In the email, sent from AEG Presents, a header titled 'Updated Ticketing Procedures and Ticket Sale Timings' gave Swifties more detail on the next steps of the ticket buying process.

But the email began by stating information many fans already knew, and there appeared to be no sign of a yes or no on whether they were successful in the registration for general sale.

It read: "A limited number of registrants will have the opportunity to access the ticket sale and everyone else will be placed on the waitlist.

"Due to the demand for these shows, and to ensure the maximum number of fans have the opportunity to access tickets, registrants will be randomly selected for the opportunity to access the ticket sale.

"For UK dates, ticket inventory will be split evenly between the official ticket agents Ticketmaster and AXS. If you are selected, you will be randomly assigned a unique non-transferable access code to EITHER Ticketmaster or AXS.

"Registrants who are selected to receive a code for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour ticket sale will have the opportunity to access the sale for the specific city they registered for."

However, some fans are reporting that they did receive an email, confirming their success for selected general sales.

The email went on to say that access to sales will be limited to the specific shows that are on sale on a specific day.

Finally, it ended on a new date that fans will have to wait around for.

"All registrants will receive a further email from either Ticketmaster or AXS confirming their selected/waitlist status by 23:59 Friday 14 July.

"Successful registrants will be selected at random to receive access codes. If you are not initially selected, you will be placed on the waiting list to receive a code.

"If you are placed on the waitlist, and any further tickets becomes available, you may be sent an email to join the sale

"Tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis while currently available inventory lasts."

The new confirmation date did not go down well with fans.

One fan on Twitter said: "If you have a UK Taylor Swift fan in your life check on them because we are absolutely not okay. Not them changing the ticket company and all the presale times at the last minute. I am stressed."

"NAHH do I actually have to wait until Friday 14th to know if I even have a CHANCE at getting taylorswiftuktickets," another wrote.

While a third said: "Getting a Taylor Swift concert code is the 2023 version of getting a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket."

Others were left confused.

Ruby tweeted: "Trying to find information about how to get taylor swift tickets in the UK feels like trying to pass under a bridge and coming face to face with a goblin that only speaks in riddles."

It means fans who have signed up to general sale only will now have to wait until 11.59pm on Friday, July 14 to find out if they can buy tickets or not for the following week.
