Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce spent one of their first big Sundays as a married couple doing what they have become very good at doing separately: winning in very different uniforms.
About 2,700 miles from where Kelce scored a touchdown for the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami, Swift stepped onto the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet in Los Angeles Sunday night for her first major red carpet appearance since marrying the NFL star.
And Mrs. Kelce came dressed for the occasion. Swift brought some sparkle to the VMAs in a Tamara Ralph couture look pairing a sheer black corset top with a shimmering silver skirt cut with a dramatic leg slit. She completed the look with earrings by Leviev and Anita Ko, rings from Forever Diamonds and Etho Maria and silver Le Silla shoes.

Earlier Sunday, the Chiefs tight end was at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, where Kansas City defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-10. Kelce caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes before Swift made her entrance on the other side of the country.
It made for a particularly Swift-Kelce snapshot of newlywed life: he was scoring touchdowns in Miami while she was making MTV history in Los Angeles.

Swift arrived at the VMAs with plenty to celebrate beyond her first post-wedding carpet.
MTV named her the inaugural recipient of its Artist Director Honors, a new award recognizing artists whose work behind the camera has helped shape music video and visual storytelling. The honor is particularly significant for Swift, who has increasingly taken control of the visual language surrounding her music by directing her own videos.
It also pushed her already extraordinary VMA record even further.
Swift entered the night tied with Beyoncé with 30 career VMA wins. The Artist Director honor gave Swift her 31st Moon Person, making her the most-awarded artist in MTV VMA history.
She also came into Sunday's ceremony with nine nominations, second only to Madonna's 11.
Swift was nominated for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Pop, while "The Fate of Ophelia" picked up nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography and Best Visual Effects. Swift also received a Best Direction nomination for "Opalite."
The directing recognition is no longer a side note in Swift's career.
Since making her solo directorial debut with "The Man," she has directed a growing list of her own projects, including "cardigan," "willow," "All Too Well: The Short Film," "Anti-Hero," "Bejeweled," "Karma," "Fortnight," "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite." She has already won the VMA for Best Direction four times.
And Sunday night, she wasn't finished showing MTV audiences what she can do behind the camera.
The ceremony was also chosen for the world premiere of Swift's "Patient Zero" music video, the new single from the expanded edition of "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore."
Swift directed the video, which stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, but she recruited one of cinema's most celebrated cinematographers to shoot it: Mexican filmmaker Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki.
Lubezki is a three-time consecutive Academy Award winner for cinematography, taking home Oscars for Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity," Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "Birdman" and Iñárritu's "The Revenant." His involvement gives "Patient Zero" considerably more cinematic firepower than the average pop music video and makes Swift's new MTV directing honor particularly well timed.
The 2026 ceremony also marked Swift's return to the VMAs after skipping the show in 2025.
Few artists have a history with the awards quite like hers. Swift first attended the VMAs as a teenage country singer in 2008. A year later, her acceptance speech for Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me" became part of pop-culture history when Kanye West interrupted her onstage. In 2022, she used another VMA acceptance speech to announce "Midnights."
Nearly two decades after that first carpet, the woman arriving Sunday looked very different from the teenage newcomer MTV audiences first met. She arrived with 30 previous Moon Persons, another historic award waiting for her, nine nominations, a new video directed with an Oscar-winning cinematographer and a new last name in her personal life.
