Taylor Hawkins hugged by Dave Grohl on stage in last video before tragic death

Fans have been left devastated as the last video of Taylor Hawkins on stage has gone viral on social media.

The drummer, 50, who played with the Foo Fighters for more than two decades, was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Colombia, hours before the band were due to go on stage.

The US rockers were in the country as part of their South American tour, and a clip is circulating on Twitter and Instagram showing Taylor being introduced on stage by frontman Dave Grohl in the last appearance before his tragic death.

The video was taken on 20 March at the Lollapalooza Argentina festival in Buenos Aires, and Dave spoke to the packed crowd at the Hipodromo de San Isidro as he told them just how incredible Taylor was.

“There’s one more person you can’t forget. Ladies and gentlemen, Taylor Hawkins plays the drums in the Foo Fighters,” he said.

Dave continued: “You know, the best thing about Taylor Hawkins, he’s the best f***ing drummer in the world, we love him so much.”

He then asked Taylor to stand up and show the audience his tiger print trousers, before telling the crowd: “That motherf***er can sing, and those pants make him sound better.”

Taylor and Dave embraced on stage, as the drummer said his life was changed after meeting the rocker.

“I f***ing love Dave Grohl, man. I’d be delivering pizzas if it wasn’t for f***ing Dave Grohl. I’d be managing the drum department at a guitar centre if it wasn’t for Dave Grohl,” he said.

The Foo Fighters were due to end their South American tour on Sunday, but the dates have been scrapped after the devastating passing of Taylor.

The investigation is ongoing into his death, and in a statement confirming the news, the band said his memory would live on.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.

“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever,” it read. “Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
