The price of getting a black cab in Liverpool is set to go up.
Proposals from the city council will see the customers paying more for journeys at all times of day and night. According to a notice sent to drivers - seen by the ECHO - the new increased fares will be coming in from Monday, March 13. The notice to drivers of black cabs informs them they must now get the meters in their taxis updated.
According to the proposals, seen by the ECHO, the standard day rate for journeys beginning after 6am and ending before 11pm will see the first 330 yards of a journey charged at £3.40 - up from £3.30.

20 pence will then be added for each following 190 yards up to 40,480 yards and a further 20pm for every 300 yards after that. Another 20p will be added for every 60 seconds (or less) of waiting.
The black cab night rate covers journeys beginning after 9pm and ending before 6am - or any journeys at any time on Bank Holidays (not including around Christmas and New Year).
This night rate is set to rise from £3.75 for the first 330 yards or less to £4.25 with a further 25p added for each succeeding 190 yards up to 40,480 yards. Following this a further 25p will be added for each succeeding 300 yards. An extra 25p will be added for each 60 seconds of waiting (or less).
Previously black cabs in the city also had a specific Saturday/Sunday rate, which will be changed to a P (Peak) rate under the new proposals.
The P rate will be used instead of the S for journeys beginning after 11pm on a Friday and ending at 6am on Saturday and beginning on 7pm on a Saturday and ending 7am on Sunday morning.
The P rate will now charge customers £4.70 for the first 330 yards or less of a journey - a rise of 70p from the current S rate. Then 25p will be added for each further 175 yards (or less) up to 40,480 yards and a further 25p for every subsequent 300 yards, with 25p added for every 60 seconds of waiting (or less).
Finally, the Extra rate will cover journeys beginning (1) after 6pm on December 24 to 6.am on December 27 and (2) after 6pm on December 24 to 6am on January 2.
This rate will rise from £4.50 to £5.10 for the first 330 yards or less, followed by 30p for each subsequent 190 yards up to 40,480 yards. After this 30p will be added for each subsequent 300 yards and an additional 30p for every seconds of waiting.
The increases were initially proposed by unions representing the drivers to tackle the cost of living crisis. They have now been accepted by Liverpool Council.
