Taxi driver confronts woman in 'road rage' scenes near the Rocket

A taxi driver confronted a woman in a bizarre "road rage" scene near the Rocket.

Lynn Higgins, who shared the footage of the taxi driver exiting his licenced car and confronting her, said his behaviour was "dangerous, intimidating, unacceptable and unwelcome". Lynn said the incident happened near the 'Rocket flyover' in Broadgreen on Monday, November 28.

Lynn claimed she was "tailgated" by the taxi driver, in a Mercedes, for a number of minutes and thought she had got away after a set of lights. But she claimed the taxi driver went through the red lights and tried to overtake and edge in front of her.

As she reached the next set of lights near the Rocket pub and started to manoeuvre into the next lane, the driver "erratically" overtook her to cut in front. He then proceeded to exit his taxi, with the flyover seen in the background, before launching into a foul-mouthed tirade of abuse at the confused woman.

Lynn told the ECHO: "Prior to the incident the drive was bang on the speed limits - careful and considerate the whole way. Nothing provoked this incident other than the cab driver's impatience. I appreciate that being stuck in heavy traffic might cause him to lose revenue, but this is no excuse for hazardous driving and aggressive behaviour to others.

"He was intimidating and downright dangerous. His style of driving causes accidents, costs lives, and is unacceptable on our roads."

Lynn said after the taxi driver's rant he got back in his car, but had only progressed "eight entire feet further ahead in the queue on traffic. She added he gave her a number of "obscene" hand gestures as they parted ways.

Lynn told the ECHO: "I know there are many brilliant cabbies out there, but this particular individual is not fit to don the plates. He is the type who endangers lives, intimidates people, and gives other cabbies a bad name."
