Tattoo lover gets 'legendary' sarcastic ink after dad's stern warning against it

Choosing the right tattoo is one of the most personal decisions you can make, as the illustrative ink remains printed on your body forever. Many people agonise over what design or style to choose, with some even spending years researching and brainstorming until finally committing to their highly anticipated ink.

Others take the decision more lightly, either choosing a design on a whim because they love the look of it, or going even further by plumping for a satirical tattoo that highlights an in-joke between family or friends. One ink-lover has taken a gloriously sarcastic approach to their father's stern tattoo advice, leaving many people in stitches.

Taking to social media platform Reddit to proudly unveil their fresh ink, the anonymous person got their dad's words tattooed on their forearm - but unlike others who choose meaningful phrases, quotes or sentimental dates, this quote is hilariously mundane.

This dedicated tattoo lover got the words "You don't need another tattoo - dad" needled into their arm, in a traditional-looking cursive font that only adds to the sarcastic charm of the piece.

The post, which has hundreds of comments on Reddit, is captioned: "I asked my dad what I should get for my next tattoo. He was not impressed".

The satirical ink has garnered mixed reactions online, with many commending the person's light-hearted approach despite others criticising their rash decision.

One commenter said: "You dad joked the dad, forever. Absolutely legendary" while another added: "Your commitment to sarcasm, Sir, is truly inspiring".

The tattoo owner then replied to reveal more details about their father, saying: "He’s super Christian/conservative, but I could hear him trying not to laugh when I called him about it.

"He asked what it's gonna look like in 30 years from now, I said 'dude, your old a** will be dead' lol, I love my dad," they added.

Despite the jokey nature of the tattoo, many Reddit users saw the sentimental value in the person's choice. One said: "The kind of humor [sic] I can appreciate right there, and you’ll always have a little piece of him in that too".

Others weren't so complimentary of the humorous ink, instead choosing to mock the person for getting the words permanently printed.

One Reddit user blasted the person's choice, commenting: "I don't get it with tattoos. It's like telling the same joke over and over. Literally, the joke is on you".

Another wrote: "Should have listened to your dad" only for the tattooed person to fire back by saying: "Clearly, I did".

Some people were able to appreciate the fun side of the story while admitting that they'd never get the tattoo themselves.

One said: "I would never get this myself, but I would laugh and high-five you for it if I ever saw it in person".
