Taron Egerton 'splits from girlfriend' Emily Thomas after 6 years due to 'busy schedules'

Taron Egerton has reportedly split from his girlfriend of six years.

The actor, who played Sir Elton John in Rocketman, has split from assistant director Emily Thomas as busy schedules stopped them from seeing each other as much, The Sun reports.

It's claimed Taron, 32, is now looking for love again as he has joined celebrity dating app Raya.

He has removed all evidence of his relationship from his Instagram.

A source told the publication: "Taron and Emily have both been really busy for the past year and it put a lot of pressure on their relationship."

The insider continued: "They have separated and it hasn't been easy for either of them. He is taking some time for himself now but he is open to meeting someone else soon.

"He has been putting himself out there on Raya in the hopes he can ease himself back into dating."

Their rumoured split comes after Taron had to pull out of his West End play Cock for "personal reasons" a fortnight ago.

Taron fainted on stage during a preview of the show last month and was recently absent from the show after testing positive for Covid-19.

Show bosses issued a statement where they revealed understudy Joel Harper-Jackson would take over the role, after the actor had already been filling in for the Golden Globe winner while Taron battled Covid.

They said: "Joel Harper-Jackson will take over the role of M in Mike Bartlett's razor sharp, hilarious play Cock until the end of the run.

"The part was originally played in this production by Taron Egerton, who has had to withdraw from the production due to personal reasons."

The statement said Taron's understudy had been playing the part for the "past ten days" as the actor recovered from coronaviru s at home.

The revival's director Marianne Elliott, 55, praised Joel in the recent post, referring to him as an "absolute hero." He was further described as a "brilliant and gifted actor".

"Joel is an absolute hero. He is a brilliant and gifted actor and stepped into the role at extremely short notice. Audiences have been standing and cheering and so am I," she wrote.
