'Targeted attack' sees car set on fire in Paisley as police launch probe

Police in Paisley are appealing for CCTV and dash-cam footage after a car was set on fire.

A silver Volkswagen Golf R32, parked on Thrushcraig Crescent, was deliberately set alight around 8.20pm on Wednesday, October 26.

Enquiries carried out by cops have established three people dressed in black were seen prior to the incident which they are treating as a "targeted attack".

One person was wearing a black hat, black top and black trousers. They were wearing black and white trainers and carrying a petrol can.

The second suspect was wearing a black hat, black top and black trousers with a white stripe down the trouser legs. They were also seen carrying a pole.

The third suspect was wearing a black hat, black top and black trousers with white trainers. This person was carrying what looked like a baseball bat.

The three suspects get out of a small white panel van and set fire to the car. They immediately got back in the vehicle and made off.

No one was injured in this incident, however, the window of a house was also smashed.

Officers continue to review CCTV footage for any additional information about the incident.

Detective Constable Gary Bruce said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen a white van in the area or who may have any information about the suspects to contact us.

“We are continuing to review CCTV footage from in and around this area and I would ask any motorists with dash-cams, who were in the area at the time to check their footage as it could have images of the white van, which could assist in our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3604 of 26 October, 2022. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
