Water tankers are being used after a 'technical fault' was reported on the network in a large area of Manchester. Hundreds of properties in the M20 postcode area are believed to be suffering from either no water supply or poor water pressure on Sunday.
United Utilities apologised and said its fleet of water tankers were pumping extra water into pipes to help keep taps flowing as repair work continues. The M20 area includes Withington, Didsbury, West Didsbury, Fletcher Moss and part of Parrs Wood.
United Utilities reported 'a technical issue on a valve on our network, which our engineers are working hard to resolve'. Customers are being kept up to date via the website.

The issue was first reported at 12.46am on Sunday, with engineers said to have been on site by 3am.
In a 5.52am update UU said: "We have identified a technical fault on our network, which we believe to be the cause of poor pressure in your area. All customers should have some supply however this may fluctuate during peak times in the day.
"Our fleet of water tankers are now in your area, they are pumping extra water into the pipes to keep your taps flowing and toilets flushing whilst we are getting these issues fixed and your water supply back to normal as quickly as possible."
Then before 8am they added: "We’ve made progress with the repairs and we’ll be onsite again today. It's quite complex so it’s taken longer than we hoped to plan, begin and carry out the repair, but please be assured we’re doing everything we can to get your taps flowing again."
A spokesperson for United Utilities said "Some customers in the M20 area of Manchester may be experiencing poor pressure from their taps. This is due to a technical issue on a valve on our network, which our engineers are working hard to resolve.
"We have our fleet of water tankers pumping extra water into the pipes to help keep taps flowing while we continue the repair. We're very sorry for the inconvenience and we are working hard to get supplies back to normal as soon as possible. We are keeping any affected customers up to date and we thank everyone for their patience in the meantime."
It's not know how many properties are affected.
