Tanguy Ndombele seals loan transfer to Lyon after being discarded by Tottenham boss Antonio Conte

Tottenham outcast Tanguy Ndombele has completed a deadline day loan move back to Lyon.

The French midfielder will reportedly be available to buy for £54million in the summer after his former team made a move for his services, to replace Newcastle newboy Bruno Guimaraes. Lyon will pay £1.2m for the loan switch.

The Ligue 1 club sold Ndombele to Spurs two-and-a-half years ago in a deal worth £64m, but he has struggled to live up to that price tag under numerous managers.

Signed under Mauricio Pochettino, the Frenchman suffered poor form under successor Jose Mourinho which led to public criticism from his manager.

Ryan Mason’s spell as caretaker saw him briefly return to the side before Ndombele failed to convince either Nuno Espirito Santo or Antonio Conte during the first half of this season.

Taken off during a difficult FA Cup clash with lower league Morecambe earlier this month, the 25-year-old left the pitch slowly and earned boos from his own fans in what could prove to be the last of his 91 appearances for the club.

Tottenham have been busy on deadline day with Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur due to sign from Juventus.

Bryan Gil is heading to Valencia on loan and Dele Alli is on his way to Everton, on a permanent transfer. LaLiga side Villarreal have been in talks with Giovani Lo Celso over a move for the Argentine.
