Micheal Martin has called on Dee Forbes to appear before Dáil committees this week.
The Tanaiste was reacting to the shock resignation of RTE Director General, Ms Forbes, on Monday ahead of her expected appearance at the Oireachtas Committee on Media on Wednesday followed by the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday, about the Ryan Tubridy secret payments controversy that continues to rumble on.
Mr Martin was asked if he believes she should still turn up in Leinster House this week, as invited, on his way into a foreign affairs ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg.

He said: "I do believe that there should be a full presentation to the Dail committee this week and obviously the former Director General would have knowledge of the entire situation and perhaps would be in a position to clarify issues before the committee.
"So, the Government wants the fullest possible presentation at that Oireachtas committee. Anybody that knows the details, that could bring clarity around this, that’s what people want, that’s what the Oireachtas wants.
"The Government will be updated on this tomorrow and I think the (Media) Minister, Catherine Martin, will be updating Cabinet tomorrow and the leaders obviously will be discussing this this evening as well."
Ms Forbes resigned this morning following days of controversy after it emerged that Tubridy, who last month left his role as host of The Late Late Show, had received undisclosed payments of €345,000 between 2017 and 2022.
Ms Forbes, who was due to leave her role next month, was immediately suspended after the payments came to light, while Mr Tubridy will not appear on his RTE radio show this week in what the national broadcaster has referred to as an "editorial decision."
