Manchester institution Tampopo is celebrating its 25th birthday with a momentous katsu curry giveaway today. The dish is one of the chain’s most popular dishes in its history, and the giveaway is happening at its Corn Exchange branch.
From 12pm today (June 20), a special ‘katsu curry station’ will be set up at the restaurant, giving away either the chicken katsu curry or the vegetarian sweet potato version. Not only that, but the offer kicks off another 25% off click and collect orders at all the chain’s outlets that will run until September.
The offer runs across all Tampopo outlets with customers invited to use the code TPSUMMER25 when checking out. The pan-Asian chain was born in 1997, with its first branch opening on Albert Square.
It went on to open further restaurants in the Corn Exchange, The Trafford Centre and another in Fitzrovia in London.
“I am proud to have been a part of the Manchester dining scene for 25 years - a time which has seen the city’s food and drink community develop almost beyond recognition,” said founder David Fox. “I’m happy to have played a small part in the lives of so many loyal customers and team members over the years too - those moments of happiness when family and friends can share food at our table is truly special.
“We even have five Tampopo team marriages, and six Tampopo babies including a set of twins! All in all it is the people that have made the last 25 years so special - so, here’s to the next quarter century with them too!”
