Tampa authorities are warning drivers to exercise caution as the city faces challenges with dark traffic lights and flooded roadways. Police Chief Lee Bercaw emphasized the importance of safety during a news conference, advising drivers to avoid water-covered roads to prevent potential injuries or fatalities.
According to Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, approximately two-thirds of the city's traffic lights are currently out of service due to power outages. To assist with traffic flow, police officers have been deployed to many of these intersections to direct vehicles.
