CHENNAI: After nearly 17 years, the state highways department has finally sanctioned ₹17.1 crore to expand the urban stretch of East Coast Road near Kottivakkam in Chennai.
The government in 2005 announced that ECR will be converted into a six-lane stretch in order to avoid traffic congestion. More than 1.2 lakh vehicles use this road everyday, according to official data.
